Fielders Specifying Manuals out now!
The progressive nature of Fielders has seen a number of new profiles, procedures, finishes and services added to their comprehensive product offering. With more information than ever, and now available in portable electronic formats, Fielders expects that the Second Edition of the Manuals will become even more popular than the original.
The Specifying Fielders Roofing and Walling Technical Manual (‘The Blue Book’) contains useful product details, design data and installation guides. It’s the perfect tool to assist specifiers and installers in making informed choices regarding the use of Fielders products. It also references Fielders’ ‘boutique’ products, including Neo-Roman, Steel Weatherboard, VM Zinc and Heritage Galvanised, along with many new and improved profiles, and even a number of custom product sections. Since its introduction, Fielders KingFlor® has grown to be Australia’s largest range of steel formwork profiles.
Fielders KingFlor® Design Manual (‘The Green Book’), together with its companion software KingFlor® Designer Suite, makes designing a breeze. The Design Manual and software enables designers to quickly assess a multitude of options, to help determine the most economical and effective design solutions. The Green Book and software also includes details on Australia’s newest and most economical steel formwork, Fielders KF40®. Through developments such as the exclusive SquashCut™ squash folded ends on their trapezoidal profiles, or simply the introduction of their ‘world first’ KF40® profile, Fielders continues to lead the way. Their ability to design and supply innovative composite steel formwork solutions to the Australian construction market has brought economy and flexibility to some of the country’s largest commercial projects. Their new technical manuals help make using Fielders innovation even easier for specifiers and installers.
A huge new advantage is that the manuals are now available in a choice of formats. These include the traditional printed form or in portable electronic formats, such as a CD ROM, or in an ultra-compact flash drive format, to go anywhere, from pockets to keyrings or lanyards. Orders may be placed by visiting www.fielders.com.au entering contact details and selecting the desired format. Clients may also choose to order via telephone on 1800 182 255. Either way, delivery is free of charge.

New Vehicle Loading and Delivery Regulations
Fielders have previously recommended safe vehicle loading and delivery advice, however due to a new law for chain of responsibility it is illegal for Fielders to allow unsuitable loads to leave Fielders sites.
Our sales staff will now be checking load sizes and lengths at the time of order so that alternate pick up arrangements can be made if necessary. Customers collecting loads with unsuitable vehicles run the risk of being refused loading as we cannot waiver our responsibility.
For further information flyers regarding vehicle loading and delivery advice can be found at all Fielders sites.

Fielders Now Have 9 Mobile Mills
Forward thinking has placed all of Fielders concealed fixed decks in custom-built containers, consequently Fielders have rolled all of their profiles throughout Australia, even in the remotest regions for the world. Sheet lengths for over 100m have already been achieved and the possibilities are endless. Tough, economical, weather-tested and watertight, Fielders concealed fixed roofing is available in a variety of profiles to suit any application. In comparison to concealed fixed an average 6000m² screw fixed deck will have about 36,000 screw holes, each one a possible source of corrosion over time.

Fielders acquires Brisbane Sheet Metal
Fielders Steel Roofing today announced their acquisition of the Brisbane Sheet Metal business, effective immediately.
Fielders is a leading provider of rollformed steel products to the Australian market, with manufacturing and distribution operations in all mainland cities, with the exception of Brisbane.
Managing Director, Mr John Easling, said that the acquisition of Brisbane Sheet Metal would enable Fielders to complete their national offer and participate in the fastest growing building market in Australia.
The mature product range that Brisbane Sheet Metal offers will be extended by the addition of Fielders market-leading commercial products, including the KingFlor® steel flooring range and Concealed Fix roofing systems - as featured on the Melbourne Cricket Ground redevelopment as well as the recently opened Adelaide Airport Terminal.
Fielders also intends to add to the Brisbane Sheet Metal range of domestic steel roofing products and introduce its range of home improvement products to the Queensland market. These include (the) Endurance Sheds, Dominator fencing and the Centenary Carports and Verandahs range.
Brisbane Sheet Metal will continue to operate from its existing premises in Brisbane and Coolum and is expected to turn over $30m during the 2006 calendar year.
Fielders Roofing on New Adelaide Airport Terminal
The Adelaide Airport Multi User Integrated Terminal project features a new domestic and international air terminal.
40,000m2 of RF55 steel formwork was used on the airport project, whilst project architects Hassell Pty Ltd specified 30,000m2 of KingKlip 700 and 5,000m2 or HiKlip for the terminal roof.
Fielders worked closely with Hassell architects in order to optimise the roof design and offer the most cost efficient solution.
The roof pitch is 3 degrees, the average sheet length at Adelaide Airport is 31 metres.
Fielders Mobile Mill was used on the Adelaide Airport project. Mobile Mills allow roof sheets of any length to be fabricated on site. It is not practical, nor economically viable to transport by road roof sheets over 30 metres in length. Fielders Mobile Mills can easily output on site precision roll-formed single sheets from BlueScope Colorbond or Zincalume coil.
Fielders confidence in concealed fix long length roofing is backed by our 20 year Watertight Installation Guarantee which requires installation by a Fielders Approved Contractor. Linear Roofing Contractors were the approved contractor for the airport project.
Prior to handover of the project, Fielders expert inspectors thoroughly scrutinized the whole roof to ensure that our stringent fixing requirements were met. The project was then digitally photographed and the Watertight Installation Guarantee was issued to Linear Roofing Contractors. For added peace of mind, Fielders arranged for BlueScope Steel to warrant the coil for up to 30 years.

KingFlor®: More than a Commercial Commodity.
A new era for Fielders’ KingFlor® is here, and it is beginning in South Australia. Composite steel formwork for domestic housing is on the rise with several of South Australia’s leading architects and builders using KingFlor® profiles in their designs.
118m2 of 0.75BMT RF55® is being used on a 2 storey home in Tranmere. The architect, Joe Piteo has specified Fielders RF55® because of its versatility and the Formworker, New World Cement is doing a great job with its installation.
Other domestic projects currently going are 230m2 of 0.75BMT KF57® being used by Cirroco Constructions on a home in Rostrevor and 95m2 of RF55® being used by builder Chris Whittaker & Associates on a 2 storey house near the scenic Henley Beach.
Although Fielders KingFlor® is excitingly entering a new era, all the KingFlor® profiles are still very much a part of the commercial construction sector. Some of the bigger projects Fielders are currently involved in are the Adelaide Airport development using 41,000m2 of RF55®, Bathurst Shopping Centre using 3,000m2 of RF55® and the Riviera Apartments in Richmond, which is a 35,000m2 project involving 0.75BMT KF57®.
For more information on all the KingFlor® profiles email info@fielders.com.au or free call 1800 18 22 55.

Fielders Supports Young Industry Talent
Fielders are proud to sponsor the students involved with ProjectArch in its commitment to raising design flair, structural integrity and work standards across the Australian building and construction industry.
Through its long time affiliation with the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, Fielders is privileged to be able to help develop and shape upcoming architectural talent. The recent “Model Awards” in March is a prime example, where students from the University of South Australia were required to design and create models of a dance studio or a residence for a family of four. The criteria for these projects included investigations into existing contemporary house forms and approaches to space and dwelling, and the critical issues of site, landscape and material context. The designs were restricted by specific use of materials within a 13 week period and were centralised around the theme of “light”, taking into consideration the aspects of place, identity, everyday, colour as well as lightness of being and mind. Congratulations to the winner, Joanne Saw with “Lighting House” as well as to honorary mentions; Kai Wai Wong and Daniel Galut.
University of Adelaide Student Model Awards
Fielders has recently sponsored the ‘student model awards’ for the University of Adelaide to acknowledge excellence in model making amongst first year students. As part of our close relationship with the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) this award is presented to the top three models as determined by an independent RAIA jury.
The students had to construct a presentation model of a pre-selected building to the scale of 1:20 or 1:50. This could be the whole building or only part of it, using a variety of materials. The most successful students created the models that demonstrated a very high level of craftsmanship, focusing on material and construction details.
We congratulate the winners of the event, Daniel Manno and Kirby Thomson for their complex roof design of Richards House in Aldgate, South Australia. Their model was successful because of its complex roof structure with different degrees of elevation and the model’s assortment of materials. Melanie Paul’s 1:20 scaled display of Kangaroo Valley Retreat came second, with the partnership of Zhoney Li Hua and Chan Sai Ho finishing third. Commendations went to Amy Silverto’s and Will Harbison’s exhibit of Troppo's Love Shack.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL WINNERS AND COMPETITORS IN THE EVENT. THE FUTURE IS LOOKING BRIGHT FOR ARCHITECHTURAL DEVELOPMENT!
